Dominique Cosmetics - Lemonade Lipgloss || Shade - Strawberry Lemonade

This is one of many influencer based brands. They are not all the same. Some produce quality products and some…er…do not. Dominique Cosmetics is owned by Christen Dominique who is as sweet as can be and her products aren’t bad but they don’t seem out of this world either. This is the first product from her line that I’ve tried. The Lemonade Lipgloss is very pretty and the packaging is cute but it seems like a pretty run of the mill lipgloss. I don’t think I’ve actively worn lipgloss since I was in grade school but I’ve dabbled here and there since. The pinky tones of this gloss were a little intimidating but it’s actually very light, maybe to a fault. I did have to go in a few times to get enough product all over my lips and it’s not dripping wet shine or anything but it’s fine if you’re looking for something casual or want a little sheen on top of your lipstick.

Dr. Brandt Clean Biotic PH-Balanced Yogurt Cleanser with Chlorophyll

Alright, let me just say…I am up to my a$$ in cleanser. Last month I got the Glamglow cleanser, I already had a Tatcha and Tarte cleanser. I think I also have a Biore exfoliating cleanser floating around somewhere too. ENOUGH! I AM A CLEAN PERSON! I DON’T NEED ALL THIS CLEANSER. That being said, obviously, I have not tried this, nor am I in a rush to. The explanation on the sheet provided by BoxyCharm reads, “this prebiotic multi-tasking cleansing yogurt melts away grime, makeup and excess oil, for skin that is hydrated and never stripped.” Trying not to be put off by idea of washing my face with yogurt but it’s 2019. There are worse things I guess. The packaging is cute and the smell is not off putting. That’s all I got for ya.

Farmacy - Honeymoon Glow AHA Resurfacing Night Serum

I am VERY eager to try this as I’m looking into a night time regimen (face masks you can sleep in sound amazing). I’ve heard good things about Farmacy and there’s the added bonus that it’s considered a Clean Brand. BoxyCharm’s sheet claims that the Honeymoon Glow is a “three-in-one night serum that resurfaces hydrates and clarifies dull skin while you sleep” and says “you’ll get a youthful looking smooth complexion as the look of pores, fine lines and wrinkles are reduced.” Big claims! It says to be formulated with a 14% AHA/BHA/gentle flower acids blend. I don’t know what any of that means but if it will make me look less haggard, so be it. Also, no harsh scents.

PYT || Mini Turbo On-The-Go Dryer

This is obviously the big ticket item of this month’s BoxyLuxe and I have to admit it’s pretty dang cute! I wasn’t thrilled about the coral color but luckily I have a friend who will trade me her purple one. This little dryer is travel friendly being the size of my forearm and very light weight! It has 2 levels of power and comes with 2 attachments, a concentrator to give you more control in your styling and a diffuser to help with volume. I don’t use a blow dryer often (I just don’t have the patience) but I would consider traveling with this because you just never know when you’ll need one!

Living Proof - Full Thickening Cream

Probably the most useless thing for me in this month’s box. My hair is long and thick. It has a mind of its own and doesn’t need any help finding volume, whether it’s wanted or not. BoxyCharm’s info sheet says this product is a “lightweight styling cream” that “adds thickness with a hint of conditioning for natural fullness.” My mother’s hair is limp and lifeless so I know she will get more use out of this than I ever will.

Touch in Sol - No Poreblem Prime Essence

This item is probably the one I’m the most curious about. The packaging or naming doesn’t really explain what it does or how it differentiates from the other No Poreblem that was distributed in a past box. According to the info sheet, this primer “tightens up your pores keeping your skin silky silky smooth.” Okay? To be determined I guess?

Skin & Co. Truffle Therapy Radiant Dew Mist

This box item is another head scratcher but one I’ve actually used a bit. BoxyCharm touts that this spray is a “hydrating mist formulated to soothe, protect and illuminate the skin.” Then there’s a lot of babble about glow-inducing tonic, St. John’s Water, botanicals, Black Winter Truffle, pH balancing and setting makeup. I’ve only used it a few times as a just a skin refresher and I didn’t really see that glow that it claims. The smell is simple and pleasant but it hasn’t blown me away and I’m too attached to my UD All Nighter to use anything else for setting spray. If I had to pick, I’d skip this and use one of the Mario Badescu facial sprays instead.

Tarte - Be You. Naturally. Eye Shadow Palette

For this month’s BoxyLuxe, most of us were able to pick which Tarte product we wanted between this eyeshadow palette, which is exclusive to BoxyCharm subscribers, or choose between their Tarteist Pro Glow or Glow and Blush palettes. Not being big into contouring, nor having a desire for a variety of blush shades, I didn’t think the face palettes were right for me. I’m not disappointed with this eye shadow palette. It’s very versatile with useful neutral colors. This is their Amazonian Clay formula which is very buttery and easy to use. Seriously, Tarte suggests using your finger to apply these shadows. Usually my issue with these palettes is they’re all various shades of shimmer or glitter. This one has 4 matte shades and 4 shimmer ones. This palette can be good for every day use or throw it in a travel bag for lots of quick looks.

Trestique - Good Vibes Mascara

I hate to say it but this is probably the first bust I have from this months box. I am a mascara junkie so I’ll try legit anything. Everything about this mascara is just…not good. And I don’t mean it didn’t meet my high expectations for mascara. It was just straight up not good. BoxyCharm’s info sheet says this mascara curls, lengthens and adds volume to your lashes. The curl comes from the contraption on top, which is also the handle for the wand. The length and volume allegedly comes from the formula. The contraption is an attached lash curler that is teeny tiny. I was only able to do a third of my lashes at a time and it was very awkward to use. The handle felt odd and clunky. The formula went on fine but I cant say it did anything to my lashes. If anything it clumped them together at the root of my lashes which made everything look real weird. Definitely throwing this away.

That’s it! Later! xx
